Bus turns turtle, 2 killed

TWO Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka students were killed and 16 others injured when the bus they were travelling in turned turtle at the Ayer Keroh Highway opposite the Malacca Mall yesterday.

Wan Nornadia Wan Mansor @ Wan Ismail, 23, from Kampung Pengkalan Nyereh, Besut, Terengganu and Azimah Abdul Aziz, 22, from Jalan Abdul Rahman, Muar, Johor, died at the scene.

The bus travelling from Ayer Keroh to Malacca Sentral was said to have gone out of control after passing a traffic light near Pantai Hospital when the accident happened at 2.30pm.

The bus driver, Abu Hakim Goh, 54, was seriously injured and warded at Malacca Hospital.

Wan Nornadio was a final-year student in communication technology while Azimah was taking a degree in computer science (data-base management).

Wan Nornadia's friend, Suryani Mohamad, 23, who escaped unhurt said they were on their way to the city from their home in Taman Tasik Utara, Ayer Keroh. -Bernama
